Katy Ellis the girl behind it all. Katy Ellis has worked for many years as a successful Tribute Artist. Katy has always worked as a professional singer and has over ten years in the business. With her training at the Italia Conti Academy in London and her experience in performing around the world, you can really not underestimate how strong she is at performing.

Katy herself:

I started singing at the age of seven, I went to Stagecoach and I knew at a very early age that I wanted to be a leading lady in the West End in musical theatre. I took singing and piano lessons weekly and built up my knowledge of music and the voice. I then gained a place at the Italia Conti Academy in London and trained for three years on their musical theatre course.

Since then I have appeared in various Musicals and Concerts both in the West End and on Tour. I also spent four years as a production singer in the shows on various cruise ships. I have always loved portraying a character and I think that’s how the whole Tribute Act business started for myself. I also work as a Taylor Swift Tribute, sometimes I do a double ‘Bad Blood’ show of both.

Impersonating Katy Perry is really a dream come true and I am very lucky to be able to do this.

Question time with Katy

What is your favourite Katy Perry song?

My favourite Katy Perry song is ‘The One That Got Away’, however performance wise, I really enjoy singing Roar and Firework.

What is your favourite Katy Perry Album?

Teenage Dream, every single track on that album is a hit. She is tied with Michael Jackson with the most selling singles from an album, making her the only woman to have five number one singles from an album.

Have you ever met Katy Perry?

No sadly I haven’t. I would love the opportunity to one day though.

What is your favourite Katy Perry costume?

I still really love all the costumes from the California Dreams Tour. I actually like the ‘Peacock’ outfit she wore in that tour the most.

How long have you been a Katy Perry Tribute Act?

I started the tribute to Katy Perry in 2015.  I trained in musical theatre, and I have always loved portraying a character. I am also a tribute act to Taylor Swift.

Do you prefer Taylor Swift or Katy Perry?

I am a huge fan of both, and can’t compare them. I listen to Taylor Swift’s albums a lot, however nothing can compare to the fun, colourful costumes and shows that Katy Perry does.

What do you think of Katy Perry as a blonde?
I do think it suits her as she has a beautiful face. I tend to stick to the black hair/pin up look as that was my favourite era, and I still believe Katy Perry is known for that look even now.
Do you have sound equipment?
Yes I have my own PA system, if the venue or event is really big I do have a team that I hire in to do sound/lights.
Do you have a theatre show?
Yes we are currently working with James Baker Productions to create a new show. Will post dates ASAP. www.JamesBakerProductions.co.uk
Where can I come and watch a show?
I work every year in various festivals, theatres, holiday parks. I will upload any gigs onto my Facebook page. Also a theatre tour will be announced very soon. Keep your eyes open for that! www.facebook.com/KatyPerryTributeAct
